I seldom admit that I’m a lazy girl. But when it comes to the travel diary of my trip to east coast last year, I have to say I am a little bit lazy, because I stopped writing it only after finishing the first favorite city of Montreal. I thought about this diary again only few weeks ago when I created an online album for those beautiful pictures. Thinking of I will not have any time to continue it when the English class begins next month, why don’t I take advantage of current spare time to finish this meaningful diary.

Speaking of the most beautiful city in east coast, 99 out of 100 tourists will say Quebec City. The city lies along the St. Lawrence River is so amazingly beautiful and don’t have any cold concrete smell of modern city at all. After 7 months, I almost forgot all those complicated histories regarding to this city, but I do remember it was there in those cute and romantic streets and alleys, which always give you the charm of an old European city that Britain and French army ever had a hot battle.

Fortunately we took so many pictures which could show how beautiful Quebec City is before sunset. I have to say we almost lost opportunity of recording these amazing sceneries. As we forgot to take switch with us, our camera couldn’t be recharged in hotel the day before us going to Quebec. That night in Montreal we had a lovely and long talk with Li and Gao, after they left our hotel at midnight, I called them again for help. I don’t know how appreciated it is that Gao drove back to hotel from their home that miles away to send us a switch at 1:00AM. This unexpected story makes the pictures of Quebec City even more precious.

Story of two snails

We only spent one night in Quebec City. Our tour guide bragged that there was a romantic French style dinner waiting for us in a local restaurant. The fact is, the restaurant was indeed romantic, nice light, nice candle and nice table, but the food provided out there was really terrible, dry and tasteless. There were 4 combos in the menu, I only chose Salmon for main dish. Then I found they also had boiled snails, so I ordered two for me and Wally. I didn’t expect these ordered snails bring so much trouble for the people who sat around us. There was a mother and a daughter sat beside us, and another mother and daughter sat behind us. Both of them came from the same travel group with us. They didn’t order snails at first, but when they saw ours on the table they insisted to order one, without asking whether it was extra charged. When the waiter brought their snails on and told them each snail will be charged $5, they were very angry. Given the main dish was too terrible, this charged snails was an added reason to be dissatisfied. The mother and daughter who sat behind us began to complain. Contrary to them, though the mother who sat beside us continued asking her daughter to return the snails for refund, her daughter that seemed very decent didn’t do that and told her mother, “it’s not worth being angry about $10. Travel is really a journey for learn and taste new things.” what a smart recap!

Later I found during the whole dinner, the mother and daughter sitting behind us were very upset, and went out to argue with tour guide without eating any desert at all. When we finished and came out the restaurant, I saw them standing out here on the curb, still unhappily. I’m always the person who doesn’t know what the good time to open my mouth is. I said, “You really should have had that chocolate desert, which is the best in the whole dinner.” I was then stared by 4 angrily eyes because of this careless word.

The guy sitting by the window

I don't know whether this guy sitting by the window is a carpenter or what. He seemed so relaxed and didn’t want to bother taking a glance at the street. Had he tilted his head a little and taken a look, he would find include me, there were three crazy persons holding a camera snapping a shot of him. I’m a rookie, walked away after taking one picture quickly. There was another tourist seemed like a professional photographer, holding his camera and constantly adjusting the focal distance, just wanted to take a fabulous picture for the young fellow and the cute street.  Maybe some day you will see a picture like this posted on a famous photography magazine, who knows!
